Matt and Kim were married on June 16th with a beautiful ceremony and reception at Brittland Estates on the Eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay.
The stunning beauty of Brittland Estates makes this venue feel like a destination wedding, even though it’s not too far from home. This sprawling venue has two separate locations on the grounds: the Manor House at the top of the hill, and the Lodge, which is down near the water. The couple's friends and family were able to stay at both the Manor House and Lodge.
Matt and Kim met in their keyboarding class in high school and their love has grown through the years. We were honored to be asked to photograph this Chesapeake Bay wedding weekend filled with fun, family and friends. Matt and Kim had a beautiful rehearsal dinner on the water near the Lodge the night before the wedding. Since most of their guests were staying on the property, there was plenty of time to celebrate together. Everyone was able to enjoy venues pool before the wedding day festivities began.
On the morning of the wedding, Matt and the guys spent time down in the lodge while the girls got ready in the Manor. The light that streamed in through the windows of the Manor was beautiful as Kim got ready with her bridesmaids.
Matt and Kim decided to do a first look, and it was such a sweet moment. When Matt saw Kim for the first time in her gown, his reaction was priceless. It was one of our favorite moments of the day. The shock and excitement the bride and groom shared was truly something special. Their reactions made us excited to shoot the rest of the wedding day.
The ceremony took place in the gardens at the Manor House followed by a reception in a tent set up outside the Manor House. Matt's sister and Kim's bridesmaid is Lauren Hartman, owner of Sweethart Bakery. She baked a beautiful (and delicious) display of cakes and cupcakes for the couple.
It was clear that family and friends were important to Kim and Matt - even their four-legged family member. The couple’s dog, Walter, is a part of their family. They incorporated Walter into all of the wedding festivities and we made sure to include him in their portraits as well.
The reception tent was decorated with hundreds of delicate twinkling lights that almost looked like stars. As Kim and Matt took the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife, the look of sheer joy on Kim's face was a priceless moment. They were both so happy to be in each other’s arms.
For a fun touch during the reception, the couple had a photo booth they decorated to match the wedding theme. We were able to capture some great candid photos of the couple and wedding guests. The photo booth was an easy added feature that created some memorable, funny moments.
The bride and groom also had another unique prop - a classic red Mercedes convertible. Matt had restored the classic, which they used in several photos. They even used it as their getaway car in their grand exit from their wonderful wedding.
Matt and Kim, thank you so much for asking us to be your wedding photographers. It was such a pleasure to capture your beautiful waterfront wedding! Congratulations!
